Traditional Greek Meatballs Ingredients:

  • 500 grams of ground beef
  • 200 grams of bread crumb (without the crust)
  • 150 ml sweet red wine
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic
  • 1½ tablespoons of cumin
  • Salt & Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • Flour for all uses

Tomato Sauce Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 large onion or 2 medium-sized onions, mashed
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon of tomato paste
  • ½ cup sweet red wine
  • 500 grams of diced tomato pulp (concassé)
  • 1 cup of water
  • Salt, pepper & sweet paprika

Traditional Greek Meatballs Cooking Instructions:
  1. 1. Slice the bread into pieces, then transfer it to a mixing bowl and pour in the red wine. Allow the bread to soak.
  2. 2. In another bowl, combine the ground beef, cumin, garlic, and soaked bread. Tip: Use your Westinghouse blender to mash the garlic.
  3. 3. Begin kneading the mixture while gradually adding the remaining wine, if any is left.
  4. 4. Shape the mixture into uniform, oblong meatballs.
  5. 5. Dust them lightly with flour and quickly fry in a pan, until they achieve a golden-brown color.

Tomato Sauce Instructions:
  1. 1. Begin by pouring olive oil into your pot.
  2. 2. Once the oil is hot, toss in the onion and garlic. Tip: Use your Westinghouse blender to crush the ingredients.
  3. 3. Sauté the onion until it turns translucent, then swiftly stir in the tomato paste.
  4. 4. As it starts to bubble, pour in the red wine.
  5. 5. Add the diced tomato pulp (concassé) and thoroughly mix everything together.
  6. 6. Once the sauce thickens, strain it to remove excess moisture, then introduce the meatballs into the pot.
  7. 7. Reduce the heat and let the meatballs simmer for approximately 25 minutes.
